At the intersection of Treat Place and Maiden Lane, a large, colorful mural on a brick wall shaped like a giant turquoise cloud is spotted that transforms into a patterned carpet landing on the sidewalk. On the right of the cloud and off center is lifted a typographic sculpture with the written word: HOPE.
The sculpture was inspired by watching the world and our city pull through a pandemic together. We learned that Hope is a way of thinking, a social gift that can be taught.
Art is a way of life; through HOPE's bright and fluorescent colors, we are confident that Newark's community will find a pathway to happiness and the inspiration to build a better future.
A permanent environmental installation for Newark Public Library. A project with Newark artist collaboration by Audible
A new courtyard for the exceptional young minds of the Newark Public Library is flourishing. Designed for reading, playing, thinking, and dreaming, the installation is dedicated to Newark’s community and beyond. As you enter, a royal carpet makes you feel special, and soon after, a flashy orange sofa bench cradles a number of visitors at once. Five other bloom seats are happily spread around. Animated clouds are greeting at the entrance. The chromatic arched fence leads the way to take a fly. At the end of the passage, a pair of wings is waiting to help you continue your journey.
